1. Parties

These terms and conditions apply to all offers, bookings and agreements between:

And any client (the dog owner) who requests or makes use of our services. By making a booking or enquiry, you accept these terms in full.

2. Services

Happy Puppies offers the following pet care services in The Hague:

  • Dog boarding: overnight stays at our home. Your dog lives with us, on the sofa, on the loggia, wherever they feel most at ease.
  • Dog daycare: full-day care at our home, typically 8:00–18:00. Your dog is part of the household for the day.
  • Dog walking: 30-minute personal walks through parks and green spaces in The Hague Centre. Exclusive walks or small groups. Flexible scheduling.
  • Puppy care: dedicated care and gentle socialisation for young dogs, available as daycare or overnight boarding. Priced on request.
  • Drop-in visits for cats and other animals: home visits to the client’s address to care for cats, rabbits, birds, fish, guinea pigs and other small animals. Each visit is 30 minutes and is priced per animal. The client must provide access to their home (see section 16).
🐶 All services are subject to a free meet & greet prior to the first booking. For dog services, this takes place at our home. For drop-in visits, the meet & greet takes place at the client’s home. Happy Puppies may use this visit to assess suitability and agree on the routine before the first visit. We reserve the right to decline a booking if we believe it is not the right fit.

3. Meet & Greet

Every new client is required to attend a free introductory visit before their first booking. This visit typically lasts 20–30 minutes and takes place at our home. During the meet & greet:

  • Your dog gets to explore the space and meet us at their own pace
  • We discuss your dog’s routine, dietary needs, health notes and any special requirements
  • You can ask any questions and see the home before committing

The meet & greet is always free and carries no obligation to book. It will not be charged under any circumstances.

4. Bookings & Confirmation

  • Bookings are made via our contact form at happypuppies.nl, by email, or via WhatsApp
  • A booking is only confirmed after explicit written confirmation from Happy Puppies
  • Happy Puppies reserves the right to decline any booking at its sole discretion
  • We intentionally limit the number of dogs in our care at any one time to maintain quality and personal attention
  • We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for boarding during school holidays and weekends
  • For first-time clients, a completed meet & greet is required before any booking can be confirmed

5. Pricing

Current rates are published on our website at happypuppies.nl/pricing. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

Custom rates are available for regular weekly clients and longer boarding stays. Contact us for a personalised quote. Happy Puppies reserves the right to adjust prices. Changes will be communicated in advance and will not affect confirmed bookings. For drop-in visits, addresses beyond approximately 20 minutes by bicycle from HMC Westeinde hospital (Lijnbaan 32, Den Haag) may incur additional travel costs, agreed in advance.

6. Payment

  • Payment is by bank transfer before or on the day of the booking
  • For longer stays (3 nights or more), a 50% deposit is required to hold the dates
  • Invoices are due within 14 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise in writing
  • In case of late payment, a reminder will be sent. Persistent non-payment may result in recovery costs being charged and future bookings being declined
  • All prices are exclusive of VAT. VAT applies where required under Dutch law

7. Cancellation & Changes

The following cancellation policy applies to all confirmed bookings:

ℹ️ In exceptional circumstances, such as sudden illness of the dog, we will always look for a fair solution. Please contact us as soon as possible at hello@happypuppies.nl.

8. Health & Vaccinations

For the safety of all dogs in our care, the following requirements apply to every booking:

  • Your dog must be up to date with core vaccinations (DHPP/combination vaccine and rabies where applicable)
  • Your dog must have received flea and tick treatment before any stay or walk
  • You must inform us in advance of any health conditions, medications, allergies, dietary requirements or behavioural notes that may affect care
  • Dogs showing signs of contagious illness at drop-off may be refused or isolated pending veterinary clearance. No refund will apply in this case
  • Medication must be brought clearly labelled with the dog’s name, dosage, timing and instructions. There is no additional charge for administering medication
🏥 In the event of a veterinary emergency, we will act immediately in the best interest of your dog and contact you straight away. All emergency veterinary costs are the responsibility of the owner.

9. Food & Belongings

  • We do not provide food. Please bring enough of your dog’s own food for the full stay, clearly labelled with portion sizes and feeding times
  • Fresh water is always available
  • Special dietary needs are fully accommodated. Please inform us in advance.
  • You are welcome to bring familiar items such as a toy, blanket or bed to help your dog feel at home
  • Happy Puppies accepts no liability for loss or damage to personal belongings brought to our home

10. Dog Conduct & Right to Refuse

Our home is shared with other dogs and people. We ask that dogs are comfortable around people and, where relevant, other animals. Happy Puppies reserves the right to:

  • End a booking early if a dog displays consistent aggression or poses a risk to other animals, people or property
  • Refuse future bookings for dogs that have caused serious incidents
  • Charge additional costs if exceptional circumstances require extra care or emergency services beyond the scope of the agreed booking

In the event of early termination, the owner will be notified immediately and is responsible for collecting their dog as soon as possible. A partial refund will be considered proportionate to the time remaining.

11. Drop-off & Pick-up

  • Drop-off and pick-up times are agreed at the time of booking
  • Our home is centrally located in The Hague with free parking outside and public transport at the door
  • The exact address is shared after booking confirmation
  • Late pick-ups beyond agreed times may incur additional charges
  • We are available 7 days a week, 7:00–21:00 for drop-off, pick-up and communication

12. Updates & Communication

We send photo updates every day during any stay or service, without you needing to ask. If you would prefer more or fewer updates, please let us know at the time of booking.

If something happens during a stay, an incident, health concern or change in behaviour, you will be notified immediately. We believe in full transparency with owners at all times.

We aim to respond to all messages within a few hours during our opening hours (7:00–21:00, 7 days a week). We communicate in Dutch, English and Spanish.

13. Liability

  • Happy Puppies exercises the utmost care in looking after every dog. However, we cannot be held liable for illness, injury or accidents that occur despite reasonable precautions
  • The owner remains fully liable for any damage caused by their dog to persons, other animals or property during the booking
  • Happy Puppies strongly recommends that dog owners hold adequate third-party liability insurance (WA-verzekering) covering their dog
  • Our liability is in all cases limited to the amount paid for the relevant service
  • Happy Puppies is not liable for indirect or consequential losses

14. Privacy & Data

Happy Puppies processes personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Data Processing Agreement and applicable GDPR legislation. We never sell your data to third parties.

15. Applicable Law & Disputes

Dutch law applies to all agreements with Happy Puppies. Disputes will first be addressed through direct consultation. If no resolution is reached, disputes will be submitted to the competent court in The Hague.

16. Drop-in Visits: Home Access

The following additional terms apply to drop-in visit services, where Happy Puppies visits the client’s home rather than the client bringing their pet to our address.

  • The client is responsible for providing safe and reliable access to their home for each agreed visit (e.g. key, key safe, door code, or another arrangement agreed in advance)
  • Access details are used solely for the purpose of carrying out the agreed visits
  • Access details are stored securely and deleted or returned at the end of the service period
  • Happy Puppies is not liable for pre-existing damage, loss, theft or security issues unrelated to the drop-in visit itself
  • The client is responsible for ensuring the home is reasonably safe for Happy Puppies to enter (e.g. no unmarked hazards, adequate lighting)
  • If access cannot be gained at the agreed time due to client-side issues (e.g. key not left out, lock malfunction), the visit cannot be rescheduled and will be invoiced as completed
  • Happy Puppies will not use home access for any purpose other than the agreed visit times
  • Drop-in visits are available across The Hague. Addresses beyond approximately 20 minutes by bicycle from HMC Westeinde hospital (Lijnbaan 32, Den Haag) may incur additional travel costs. Any travel costs will be communicated and agreed before the booking is confirmed
