The person behind Happy Puppies.

A lifelong love of animals, a rescue dog who changed everything, and a home in The Hague that’s always open.

Camila de Diago, founder of Happy Puppies The Hague

This love for dogs didn’t start with a business idea. It started at age three.

When I was just three years old, I had a frightening encounter with a Doberman. But my mother — a true animal lover — made sure that moment didn’t leave me with fear. Instead, she turned it into the beginning of something beautiful. She believed that animals and children belong together, and she made it her mission to nurture that bond from the start.

It wasn’t long before we made one of the best decisions of our lives: adopting a puppy from the streets. From his very first bath, to healing his mange, to watching his fur grow back full and healthy — every step of his transformation was pure magic. He came to us in need, and he gave us back so much more. Unconditional love, joy, and a home full of warmth.

That little rescue dog opened my eyes to the incredible capacity dogs have to heal, to connect, and to love without conditions. He planted in me a deep tenderness for animals that has only grown stronger over the years.

With time, our family grew again. A sweet Brittany-Cocker mix joined our home as a three-month-old puppy — and one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed was watching our older dog welcome her with such gentleness and grace. Dogs never stop teaching us.

It’s this journey — rooted in rescue, love, and transformation — that I bring to every dog I care for today. Four years ago I opened my home in The Hague, and made one simple promise: every dog that comes here is treated like family. No exceptions.

“I want you to go to work, go on holiday, live your life — and never once worry about your dog.”

The way I care for dogs.

Some things I’ll never compromise on — no matter what.

A real home, not a facility

Dogs stay in my actual living space — on the sofa, on the loggia, wherever they’re most comfortable. Just a warm house in central The Hague.

Exclusive, personal care

I keep things intentionally small. Every dog gets noticed, every quirk is remembered. Your dog is never just one of many.

Daily updates without asking

You’ll get photos every single day — without having to chase them. I know how much it means to see your dog happy when you’re away, so I make it part of the routine.

Individual attention, always

Some dogs are social butterflies, others need more space and quiet time. I read each dog and adapt. No one-size-fits-all routines — just care that fits your dog.

Honest, open communication

If something happens — a small incident, an upset stomach, an off day — you’ll hear about it straight away. I believe owners deserve the full picture, always.

Free meet & greet before every first stay

Every new dog gets a free introductory visit before booking — so they can explore the space, meet me, and arrive on their first stay feeling comfortable rather than anxious.

Where your dog will be staying.

Our home is a spacious, light-filled house in central The Hague. Dogs have the run of the living space — the loggia, the lounge, the bedrooms. Every corner is dog-friendly and genuinely comfortable.

There are parks nearby for daily walks, and the location is easy to reach — with free parking right outside and public transport at the door. Drop-off and pick-up are simple, even on a busy morning.
